The Choreographer
My work is driven by a desire to cultivate empathy and examine the human condition through movement. I am interested in the forces that connect and divide us, the stories we inherit, the systems we participate in, and the emotional landscapes we navigate together. Through dance, I seek to create experiences that invite reflection, foster connection, and encourage audiences to engage more deeply with themselves, one another, and the world around them.
At the center of my choreographic process is collaboration. I approach each creation with a community-focused lens, recognizing that every performer brings a unique perspective, history, and physicality to the room. Rather than imposing movement onto dancers, I guide them through prompts, imagery, research, and emotional exploration, allowing their individuality to shape the work. This process creates choreography that is both deeply personal and collectively authored.
My work often blends contemporary dance with theatrical elements, text, props, visual design, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Music serves as a vital creative partner, informing the emotional architecture of each piece and helping to build immersive worlds that resonate beyond the stage.
Many of my works engage with social, cultural, and historical themes. La Tarantella explored Italian folklore, ritual, and women's liberation through a contemporary reimagining of the myth of tarantism. Breaking Bonds examines humanity's evolving relationship with the Earth, inviting audiences to consider interdependence, environmental responsibility, and the ripple effects of individual action. Across projects, I am drawn to questions of identity, belonging, collective care, and transformation.
My choreography has been presented across NYC at venues such as Gibney Dance, Teatro LATEA, Triskelion Arts, Arts on Site, The Rose Nagelberg Theatre, The TADA Theater, and nationally at the Luminaria Festival in San Antonio, Texas. My dance films Maria and Outside In have been screened at the Booking Dance Festival and DUMBO Dance Festival, respectively. In 2024, I premiered my first evening-length work, La Tarantella, following more than four years of cultural and historical research.
At the heart of my practice is a belief that dance can be a vehicle for empathy, dialogue, and meaningful human connection. I strive to create work that is emotionally honest, intellectually curious, and grounded in the shared experiences that make us human.
